When the baby is born, you will have access to all the medical information about the child. If, God forbid, the baby does have a medical issue; the first thing you need to do, is assess your strengths and and weakness are as a parent, and see if you are qualified to meet this child's needs. I always advise my clients that you are not doing the child any favors by taking a child in whose needs you can't meet. Make sure that you can meet the child's needs. If you can't, there are other resources available. There are other families that will take in children who have problems at birth, and are well-equipped to take care of that child. You just have to be honest with yourself about what it is you are capable of doing.
