I think that there's a common mis-perception that sex offenders are frequently old men in vans who drive around and abduct kids. But with new and changing technologies and the emergence of social networking sites, it's common that the offenders and younger in age and that they are technologically savvy and very manipulative in the way that they interact with minors. Frequently, they use a grooming process to build trust with their victims and then gradually induce them to send them sexually explicit images. In some of the worst incidences, they persuade the victims to actually meet for sexual encounters, and then blackmail them if they don't respond to those requests.
