Some of the difficulties faced today by interracial couples could be non-acceptance by family members. I'm in an interracial family. My husband is white, and we've experienced a situation where his parents don't accept me and my kids. You know, it can also be more subtle things, like dirty looks from strangers, comments. I've had people tell me that they are surprised that my husband is married to me. On the more extreme situation, it could be housing discrimination or job discrimination; those sorts of things.

Christina Simon has a Bachelor of Political Science degree from UC Berkeley and a master’s degree in urban planning from UCLA. Christina is a past winner of the prestigious California State Senate Fellowship. She is a former vice president at Fleishman-Hillard, a global public relations firm. She is the mother of a son and a daughter who attend elementary school at The Willows Community School in Culver City. Christina served as the Co-Chair of the Willows School Auction in 2007-2008 and was actively involved in the annual fundraising campaign for several years. Christina was born and raised in LA.
