Being a new single parent has all kinds of challenges. It's important that when you're making all the decisions for your kids when they're in your home, that you stop. And you give yourself time to create a road map for where you want to go, how you are going to navigate this time with your kids as the sole decision maker. You no longer have someone in the home to bounce things off of. so it's going to be really important that you create a healthy tribe for yourself, other people you can go to who you respect, who have kids that are slightly older than yours, who have a little bit more experience, who can balance your propensity to maybe overwhelm the kids with praise and encouragement because they're hurting from the demise of the family. If you combine a road map for yourself - where do you want to go with your kids as a single parent - and you add a healthy tribe who gives you good feedback, who lets you bounce your ideas around, and you maintain an attitude that you can do this, that there are 1000s and 1000s of amazingly healthy families that have one parent, it will make the job as satisfying, as fun, and as rewarding as it is for any other family unit.
