People go crazy with cleaning their house when they have lice and they really don´t need to. I always tell my parents take the hour you were going to spend steam cleaning your carpet and comb your child´s head with that hour because lice only live off the head for 26 hours. If they are off the head, they are going to starve to death so you don´t really need to worry about things that are not going to touch their head for the next 26 hours. You could even move out for a weekend and everything in your house would die, but assuming you are going to stay in your house and you have had a very bad case of lice, you might want to vacuum the couches. You might want to wash the hoods that have touched somebody´s head and you always want to take care of the brushes because a brush is something that is going to go right back on a child´s head. And you could clean the barettes but for people to worry about their floors and their rugs is silly because unless you are doing headstands on the rug all day long you are really not going to get lice back from your rug.
