I think I don't think about discipline as it's traditionally thought of.
I don't do timeouts. I don't do forced please and thank yous. I don't do anything really except to try and model for my children what I want them to be. So instead of saying to my daughter, "Say thank you," when she's two, I will say thank you. When she is five, she understands that when someone gives something to you, you say "thank you."
Now she says it. I didn't do any sort of forced potty training. I don't believe in timeouts at all. When my children are making me insane and I can't be around them anymore, I take myself out of the situation. I take a minute and think about things, and they will usually let me do that.
Otherwise, the other thing we do is rewind, open up and hug, and get those emotions out. Do the best you can.
