Raising a spiritual child is an interesting question. The first thing that pops into my mind is how do you not raise a spiritual child? The idea that everyone is spiritual and has some capacity for that. But we also know that spirituality is a muscle that needs to be exercised. So the basic principles around raising spiritual children is practice, practice, practice. Exercising in those areas of virtue, cultivating courage, love, hope, compassion, justice in your child's life in whatever way that makes sense for your family. Maybe it's encouraging your child to engage in a sport that she has a little bit of hesitancy or tentativeness around. Or perhaps it's taking your children to engage in social service opportunities where they can extend themselves compassionately to those in need.
