I believe the only way I’m going to be able to give my children good values is to model them, to show them what those good values are. I remember being told one thing and seeing something different. I’m not interested in doing that. I want to show my kids this is what you do. So when someone offers something to my child and she’s 2, and she doesn’t know to say thank you, I don’t prompt her to say thank you. I just say, “Thank you,” so that she becomes aware enough at an older age, she understands – someone gave this to me, I appreciate it, I say thank you. And they just naturally do that.

Unconventional Mom

Traci Cummings is a divorced, self-described unconventional mom of two children, ages seven and five.  When she isn't preparing meals, cleaning up or playing card games with her children, she is busy trying to spread the word about babywearing.  Traci – who is a strong advocate of breastfeeding, the family bed and instinctual parenting – believes her children are the teachers providing daily lessons to further her practice as a parent.
