My New Year's resolution last year was to say no. That when people ask me to volunteer in a classroom, to host a party, to drive kids to a field trip, to chaperon something, instead of trying to rearrange my schedule and do everything I could to be there, just to say no, if it didn't work for. If it works for me and I want to do, I'll say yes. If it's problematic in any way, shape or form, I will say no. You can't do it all with more than 1 kid - with 1 kid, you can't say yes every time somebody wants you to be in the classroom or help out in school. And that's okay, I think making an effort to get to know your child's teachers is great. Know their classmates, be there when you can, but don't kill yourself over it, they are away from home, they are in school, they have teachers, they are okay. So I would embrace the ability to say no, if it doesn't work for your schedule and not to get all stressed about it.
