Mom Forgot Baby at the Store, What do You Think

Posted August 31, 2015 - 11:38am

This morning on the news they talked about a mom of 4 who had left her baby at the grocery store and didn't come back for 40 minutes. The question is whether he should be charged or it was simply a mistake. What do you think?

I haven't read that story yet, though I saw the headline. I just can't imagine. They aren't accusing her of leaving the baby on purpose, right? I'm sure she feels awful.

They are saying she might be charged with a misdeameanor, so not sure what they are thinking.

I think we all make mistakes. We tend to fill our life with so much that sometimes it takes its toll. I read the article and she was getting ready for a birthday celebration for her neice. I think it's easy to judge and say we would never, but I know there are days that I have to count the kids I'm responsible for and there have been times when the number has come up short and I've had to ask, "who are we missing?" In the footage I saw, she looked very remorseful and upset. Maybe we need to pause sometimes and consider what that person may be going through in their life.

True...I didn't see the footage yet...but did see a blurb about it on Facebook.

Is this a woman in AZ who left her baby in a shopping cart. If so I did not get to see the coverage yet.

It sounds like it was just a terrible mistake that luckily had a happy ending.

I am torn on this one. We are so overly scheduled and rushed as parents nowadays. I am sure she did not intentionally leave her child behind but that is gross negligence. I feel like something like this will at a minimum be a wake up call to her and her community to be more mindful and present with our children.

I'm sure it wasn't on purpose & I'm sure the guilt she feels is punishment enough. Now if it happens on a regular basis, I think you've got a different problem.

I agree with that.  I think it was definitely a mistake and she shouldn't be charged.  It truley could happen to anyone, but if it's something that has hppened before, or she has other issues with kids - definitely give her a break.

I was also wondering if it had happened before...if not, then she shouldn't be charged. Sounds like a mistake.
