Introducing solids to your baby typically happens when their digestive tract has matured, which is around six months. Parents should focus on going slowly, exposing their baby to new tastes, new texture, allowing for exploration, allowing for a mess as that is all part of the experience as well as allowing the baby to have a level of control in the experience. Letting them hold the spoon, letting them lick the solids off of their fingers, as this is all part of the learning. And also, I think it is important for parents to be reading the baby´s cues of interest and disinterest, respecting the amount of volume that they want or don´t want and trusting that this in term will help to develop a healthy relationship to food where the child is able to read their own cues of hunger and satiation.
