A diastasis recti, or what we call muscle separation in the abdomen, caused by the muscles that are vertical in your belly, and cause by hormones and being stretched out during pregnancy, can be fixed without surgery. Often times, surgery, again as a last result if things are not approximating well. But don't give up until you seek professional help to determine if you have that separation; whether or not it's normal or whether you can get those tissues to come back together. They can come back together with the help of a physical therapist or someone who is trained to do that.
