You know it’s interesting, sometimes I’ll have 2 kids in my home and sometimes I’ll have 5 kids in my home, but when I have a few kids there and there’s a new child coming, they’re always scared; scared that I’m going to be taken away from them, like this person’s going to get my mom. I always sit the kids down and give them a little bit information about the new child that is coming, in order to create some empathy and belonging with the new child and to feel that they’re there to accept them as much as I am there to accept them. I might say where they came from, if they grew up with a mom or a dad or just a mom, what kind of school they went to and how long they've been waiting to get a home and how happy they are to finally get a new family so that my kids are ready and willing to accept and love the new child as he’s coming in, cause now they feel a connection.
