I have three tips for taking your kids camping. The first tip is, start slow. My husband and a group of dads have been taking the kids to camping breakfast, and say, were two years old. And so they packed up the car in the Sunday morning with tents and sleeping bags, and some mores. And they drove to a beautiful hiking area. And they set up the camp. And the camp from about 8 am to 12 noon. It gives the kids the experience of camping without the worry of the overnight. And this is the great tip to start kids off on camping. The second tip for camping with kids is, be prepared. I know this sounds like common sense, but you'd be surprised at how many people plan an overnight trip with their kids with a Sponge Bob sleeping bag. Get the right gear for your kids. So, that they'll be warm and well fed. And won't have to deal with bugs. There's a great website that we like, called Tiny Tracker, that has specific sleeping bags for kids. Specific gear for them. If your kids are warm and well fed, and don't have to fight the elements, it's going to be a much better experience for you. And to make camping a great experience for kids first time out is, make sure you make it fun. Everybody, I think, knows to pack some mores. But bring some other things for kids to do. There's a lot of downtime in camping. So, make sure you have a deck of cards, a fishing pole, their bicycles if you are camping in a flat area. Do whatever you can to make it a fun experience for your kids. And you'll have something that they want to do, time and time again.
