Almost every car seat that you buy will have a locking clip attached to it. It looks like a metal capital "I" and it will be in an infant seat, under the leg of the car seat. It will be in the back of a booster or second stage convertible. Some place in your car seat, there is going to be a locking clip. That allows you to use a seat belt to create a pre-crash position of the seat belt, meaning, all seat belts have a position if you reach over, it will lock, but when you relax, it releases. We don't want that movement with a car seat, so we pre-crash it by pulling the seat belt really tight, turning our lap shoulder belt into a lap belt using that locking clip. Keeping our car seat exactly where we want to keep it, all the time. It does a couple of other things, too. If we are going to have a passenger in the car, take the car seat out, fold our seats down; we can put our car seat back in and it's already positioned nice and tight. I think it's the most important ways to install a car seat with a seat belt.

A parent needs to know how to customize and reinstall their car seat correctly and use it correctly for their child to have the best chance of surviving a crash. Vehicles are the number one killer of children under 16 years old. To Cindy, nothing is more important in protecting children on the move.
