Teaching your child to have good eye contact is actually hugely important. First of all, eye contact is one of the ways that we show confidence. We always notice if a child is looking down, we feel they they're hiding something, they're on the defensive, they might be a little bit shy; so when we're able to make direct eye contact, it really shows our self-esteem. And it comes into play, especially as we get older, when we are interviewing for schools; certainly in the job world, where we're interviewing for a position and even in the dating world. So eye contact is something that should be right up there with learning how to shake hands.
