Probably the most important thing you can do to prepare your pet for the arrival of a new baby is to practice pre-pregnancy routines. If your pet is used to going on long walks, hikes, or going in a play group; you should continue that. If your dog is aggressive or dangerous, please seek the help of a professional because those situations will be exacerbated when your baby arrives. Make sure your pet has been examined for parasites and is healthy by your vet. Have a designated dog zone, so your dog is used to being separated. Role play, to be a leader, to be consistent, and to reward calm behavior so that your dog knows what to expect.
