Flu shots are promoted for everybody. This is a public health mandate which is if we can vaccinate the population against certain bacteria, virus, microorganisms, that could cause a huge burden on our society, not to mention the suffering, we should do it. So that’s that public health mandate. Shots. Now, some people have immune system that’s quite sensitive and you can actually get the flu from the flu shot. So it depends. I think the question whether a child should get a flu shot or not depends on his or her immune system. If you find that their immune system is relatively strong and they generally don’t get sick, then you probably are in fact fine giving them a flu shot. On the other hand, if a child would get sick all the time, those are the ones that logically should get the flu shot, because you want to prevent them from getting sick. By getting the flu shot they might actually have reactions and response that’s adverse. So what we try to do is we try to build up the child first with acupuncture, herbal therapy, nutrition so that they start to get better and not get sick as often. And at that point, then the flu shot can be used to increase their production of antibodies against that particular virus. But again, it’s a very individualized process and we can’t just sort of flat out stay, “Everybody ought to get the flu shot.” Although I think that from a public health standpoint of view that is what we would want people to do is to give everybody flu shots. But in reality I think we do need to be more considerate of each person’s individual immune response.
