Child pornography is an issue that had almost been eradicated prior to the advent of the internet. Now because of the anonymity of the internet, there are huge amounts of file sharing, so there are huge amounts of child pornography being shot from location to location. The first thing we have to understand is that by any definition, child pornography is a crime. If a child comes across pornography; number one, they are going to be traumatized, number two, it will involve them in a criminal activity. What they need to do is immediately contact their parents. It is then up to the parents to do certain things. Number one, they have to capture whatever URL that the child pornography was found on and they need to find the link from where the child was to how the child got there. Report that information immediately to law enforcement so they can act. Then they need to have a dialog with their child about what it is they just saw and the implications of that action. In certain cases, it might be beneficial to seek out counseling for the child so the child can deal with the extreme trauma that the child has just gone through.
