When people first find out that they’re pregnant with twins, one of the things that happens is they tend to go into a little bit of a state of shock. They begin to do research, they read books and a lot of them focus on the statistics about the high-risk nature of twin pregnancies. While this is definitely true, it is not always the case. You will not always have a C-section. You will not always wind up in bed rest. And you will not always have premature babies. So what I recommend to people is that if you are hoping to have a vaginal birth that you find an OB who is comfortable with it and who has delivered a lot of twins vaginally. Do your research. If you need someone to help advocate for you, hire a doula. If you think that you will be on bed rest or that your babies may come prematurely, I have a long list on my website of tips and resources that really will help.
