In my professional opinion, prescribing stimulant medication for a youngster is only appropriate after a comprehensive medical, psychological, and educational evaluation. This should be conducted by the physician that has training in attention deficit disorder working in conjunction with psychologist, educators, and the family. It is not appropriate,in my opinion, to be prescribing stimulant medication like Ritalin and Adderall to children who have not had this comprehensive assessment.
