In the beginning, we just did private funding through our insurance company and the private pay. My husband and I didn't really want to acknowledge the Autism diagnosis and we didn't want to burden an already bankrupt state. We just paid by ourselves; OT and Speech. At the end of the year, we depleted our savings and knew that we couldn't give him the services that he needed paying privately. We reached out to a state agency and our school district. We have a wonderful program of services that are helping him. My recommendation would be to get any appropriate services that you can get for your child, any way you can and as early as you can.
