One of the most difficult aspects of having an Autistic child is how consuming it is. No one can tell you what it takes of your life and how you have to be hyperfocused on a child and his needs. You enter into that, a husband and his needs. Then you have another child, and that child's needs. Inherently, a newborn needs your attention, and yet, you have this Autistic child. You have to have all of this planned for. It's been a really hard struggle to know how to balance these things, and to hope that my other child is not going to imitate the behaviors of my Autistic child is displaying. And to give my Autistic child all of the attention that he needs and requires. It has been a challenge. Thankfully, I have a therapist and resources now, that kind of help me know how to do that.
