It's important for your child to see their counselor at least the first month of school. In Middle School, they should go by and see their counselor every month, or if they see the counselor walking around they should go up and say "hello" to the counselor and make sure the counselor knows them. In High School, it's extremely important because the counselor is the person that is going to program the child's classes so that the child becomes eligible to a university or college. That's very important for a counselor to know that information. So a High School student should see their counselor the first month of High School. That way they can be sure that they have a rapport with the counselor, and the counselor knows what classes they need to be programmed into. So that when they get ready to apply for college, they have taken the right classes, the right amount of classes, and they have enough units.
