I advise parents to seek professional help when things aren't going well with their help at home. If you're having conflict with your child, if your child is upset when you talk to them about it, whatever you've tried to do is not working, I would suggest professional help. The question is what professional help and you want to be very, very careful about who you send your child to. Around any kind of eating disorder but particular around binging eating disorder, you want to vet the professionals. You want to talk them. This is not that you're worried about your child's weight. You're worried about a very significant risk for binge eating disorder. Do you see a nutritionist? Do you see a therapist? Either one. And if they're good, they'll refer back and forth, if your child needs the other component to recover.
