As the parent of a teenage parent, you play the most vital role in the teenager and the child's life. The best thing that you can do for that teenager is to help assert them and build their self-confidence. Let them know that they can be a good parent and show them what a good parent looks like and what a good parent does. So be forgiving and kind, and also establish really good boundaries for your teen. You can also help them develop a better relationship with their partner. Make sure you let them know the importance of good communication and how to have a good, safe relationship. The other thing that you should do, and I think it's really important, is to help them develop their independence. The best way to do that, especially if they're living underneath your household, is to have them chip in on some of the bills. Don't always buy all the diapers; don't always buy all the food. Make the child get some type of work so that they're bringing in an income and so they know that this is what normal parents do. They go to work or bring in a form of income and they take care of their responsibilities. Also let them know that you're not a live-in babysitter. So if they want to go out and they want to have fun, they have to make sure that they've made enough money to pay a childcare provider as any other parent would do.
