Transcription:
Sexting is the act of sending nude, or semi-nude, photos via electronic communication. Across the country, the laws of sexting are very different. In some states, it's even considered child pornography when minors do it. Meaning, if a minor sends a picture of him or herself to somebody else via electronic communication, they have produced child pornography. The person who receives it on the other end is in possession of child pornography. These are felonies in several states. What is the same across the country are the emotional consequences that ensue when children sext. They don't understand that these images are out there forever and can be see by anyone. This can be devastating to a young person, and often, cyber bullying follows. We want to make sure that we talk to our kids about what is appropriate and what is not appropriate when taking pictures of themselves. We don't even want them taking provocative pictures that might draw the wrong attention from the wrong person.
