Even if a child discloses that the sexual perpetrator who is abusing them is their husband or their boyfriend, parents should not take this into their own hand. They should not try to entrap their spouse. They should not try to utilize what happened in the course of the sexual assault investigation in the criminal court. Leave criminal investigate to the court. Leave the divorce proceedings to the lawyers. There is a presumption that, if there is a divorce going on, that the abuse is feigned about or lied. I personally don't agree with that. I think that many kids finally feel comfortable in disclosing the abuse when the perpetrator is removed from the house. I urge parents not to draw any conclusion whatsoever. Not to draw the conclusion that, because there is a divorce, it did happen; or just because there's a divorce, it didn't happen. A proper investigation where the facts lead to the conclusion, not the other way around. The conclusion should not lead the facts.
