For someone that is considering public assistance, I think they know in their gut that they need it. They're ready and there's no shame in asking for help. I think that that's one of the biggest lessons I have learned in my life. If you need help, ask for it, and there are progrms in place that can help your family. I think if you feel anxiety about applying for assistance, maybe because you don't know anyone that's been there or you have some sort of stigma or notion that this is what a family on food stamps looks like, you've got to let it go because right now in America, one out of seven families is food insecure right now. So you are not alone.
