There are some children who have what we call a low frustration tolerance. They're playing with a puzzle and they can't get get it right and they just start to cry, there's a ball over there and they can't quite climb to it or crawl to it and they melt down. Realize that you can stretch their frustration tolerance. You don't always want to the puzzle for them or always give the the ball. You want to encourage them, but also break things down into small parts for the easily frustrated child. If it's a school age child and they have too much homework, let them do the first problem, help them and then let them move on. Frustration tolerance can stretch, but I want you to look at your temperament, because if you are very fast adapting not so easily frustrated person, you might be getting impatient with your child. And so you have to work on your patience as you have a child learning how to stretch their frustration tolerance. They can do it.
