You may have a toddler who really has trouble stopping and making transitions and adapting to change. This is pretty common. There are somethings you can do that may really help. When you go to the playground, give that warning, that five minute warning. "We are going to be leaving in a little while." I use my smart phone and set it for two minutes, so my grandson sees that we are going to leave in two minutes. The other thing is, talk about what's going to happen next. Kid's who have trouble adapting have a sense, if you tell them what is going to happen next, they are willing to leave. We also might want to give them a transitional object. It might be a teddy bear or a little toy car. You take it out of your purse and hand it to him. "Okay. It's time to go in the car. Here's your car. Let's go." then you have a little race to the car. Try not to yell, but help them make that transition and change.
