A lot of women are afraid, if they are trying to have a natural birth, and the doctor suggests that they have an induction -- That they have to be induced to have the baby, that they are not going to be able to do it naturally. Actually, you can. I was ten days late with my first born and my doctor insisted on an induction because I was going nowhere. They started the pitocin pump, and I asked that it be just a little bit at a time. They go very slowly. They were very respectful of my wishes, and let it go nice and slow. I was able to stand on my feet and walk around with this IV, all around the room. You just walk around with the IV. Stay off your back, no matter what. Don't lie down because those contractions will hit you like a truck the minute you lie down. If you are up and walking around, your body will move and act as if you are not being induced, you do not have this pitocin in your system. You will progress at the same rate as if you were not being induced. It's completely possible to have a natural childbirth with pitocin if it's required of you.
