Transcription:
It's crucial to protect young children from adult content for two reasons. One is that young children learn by mimicking. They watch, over and over, Sponge Bob and Blue's Clues and the Wiggles, and they repeat, repeat, repeat. They will do that with adult content, but they don't know what it means. They don't have the emotional ability to understand that. The studies are also very clear about violence in film. It can be very dangerous. I think sometimes, in older teens, especially males, it can almost be cathartic because as violence has increased in our media, violence in our culture has actually gone down. It's a way that the hunter and the huntress can be expressive, but not for young children. The other thing is if it is sexual content, is if it's a young girl if she is mimicking and acting flirtatious, but not really understanding it. It puts her in a very vulnerable position when it comes to sexual abuse.
