Well mindfulness basically means the ability to stay in touch with what you feel, both what you feel physically and emotionally. If you're not in touch with what you feel, it's going to be very difficult to be in touch with anybody else's feelings. And particularly, you're not going to be able to really pick up your infant's emotional cues and it's just going to be much harder to read your child, if you can't read yourself emotionally. And mindfulness is a practice for learning to do this. To be both calm, focused and emotionally connected.
