Transcription:
When your child´s teacher recommends that child skip a grade or be held back and you do not agree, you have to begin to collect information. The first step is to meet with the teacher and ask the teacher her rationale. Could you tell me what makes you think that it would be best to hold my child back or to skip my child ahead? If you still do not agree with the teacher, if you were in a public school, you can ask for an evaluation of your child to help you make this decision. Even if you were in a private school, you are allowed to ask your local public school for the evaluation or you can get a private evaluation by a psychologist, a learning specialist, anybody that can give information that will help you evaluate and make the best decision for your child.
