A day three antral follicle count is a way of assessing fertility. The way that this is done is on the third day of a menstrual cycle, we perform an ultrasound usually transvaginally. And what we do is we count the number of waiting follicles and follicles are just fluid filled sacs with eggs inside of them. Therefore, on that third day when we look, we are able to count or assess the number of waiting eggs in that particular month. This is the gauge that we use in conjunction with a day three FSH and astrodyl test that is done in the blood to assess overall fertility.
