There are pros and cons to having a nanny share. The biggest pro, I'd say, is the financial benefit. In that situation, there are two families paying for 40 hours a week for one nanny, but they split the cost. So one family can pay for 20 hours a week and have full-time care. It's a big pro. Secondly, you have a situation where there are two children coming together. Then you have the opportunity for children to be able to have more social opportunities than they would if it's just a single nanny with one child. You can imagine, during the day they are going to be going to the park together. They are going to play together. They are going to be learning social skills along with the nanny during the day. As far as cons go, I would definitely start thinking about the fact that your nanny now has to answer to four parents versus the two. Communication can become very confusing if it's not clear. In that situation, there might be different parenting styles. Different ways of responding to discipline situations. Different ways of responding to eating habits, sleeping habits. Now the nanny is trying to cater to both families needs. It can be really difficult, especially if she is managing two children at the same time.
