If you have a child that is a natural athlete, that's the superstar on the team, helping them and not pushing them too hard can be a challenge at times. It should be the easiest time for a parent because your child is the star, you can just sit in the stands, applaud, the other parents giving you the thumbs up; but for a lot of us, it's difficult because we set too high of goals and objectives for our child's performance. Be careful not to do that. Let them set their own goals and objectives with the coaches they are working with and let them live up to those. Enjoy their success, applaud it, don't meddle. If your son or daughter comes to you and wants help, give them that help. Otherwise, just be encouraging. that talent is not your talent. Their success is their success. Remember, it's their's. Let them have it.
