My child has experienced hazing in school, and I feel like I am acting alone. The School Board doesn't seem to care. The Administrators are repelling my concerns. I think my son or daughter is being abused or made fun of, because he or she has reported it. This is what happens. One of the things that's difficult about hazing is, it is so very recent that reforms have come in. What you need to do is, document what has occurred. Number two, find out if you need an attorney that has hazing experience. I would insist on that. Someone who is familiar with nuances of hazing and can help represent you. I would like for you to consider what you want to accomplish. Do you want this to stop for your son or daughter; or do you want hazing to be ended in perpetuity at this school? How can you make a difference, to do something better? There is a group called, "The Hank Nuwer Anti-Hazing Heroes," which is put out by www.hazingprevention.org. The reason it was called that was because they stood up alone, against a group, a fraternity, a school. It is often, that you will have to fight alone against this. There are other parents. You can join Nationally through www.stophazing.org or through www.hazingprevention.org. There are attorney's who are well-versed, and know how to organizations and present your case for you.
