Children do not come forward easily when they are being bullied. It is really, really important for parents to create lines of communication at a very early age, so kids can dialogue with them and come forward and trust that the parent knows how to help them safely, will protect them, and not make it worse. Many times children will come forward because they are being threatened by the bully. In other words, "If you tell your parents, this is going to get worse for you." So that keeps children in silence.
