Transcription:
Is it safer for parents to host a teen party at their house because it's safer? Absolutely not. I completely disagree. I think what it does is that it communicates the wrong message to the teens that it is okay, as long as it is in your home. That is a mixed message. All the parents that I deal with are furious at the parents that are hosting parties at their house. I think the parents that are hosting need to understand is that it's a huge liability for them. If they provide alcohol or if the kids bring it in and drink it under their roof, they are liable for everything that happens. Every year in my practice, there is at least one or two kids that I see in the community, that ultimately die in somebody's house. They look like they are drunk and they need to go to sleep, and they wake up in the morning and find that kid dead. That family has the potential to lose everything they own.
