I hear from so many moms: Do I have to have a schedule? I don't want to be tied to my house. If your child sleeps well on the run and sleeps well at night; then fine, that's great. But most of the parents I hear from, that's not working for them. The baby is getting sleep deprived during the day because they are not sleeping that well in the car or stroller, and they are not getting a good night's sleep. You really want to move toward having a schedule of regular times for going to sleep and regular times for waking up. A well napped baby will sleep better at night, which will make for a much happier family.

Kim received her master’s degree in Clinical Social Work from Simmons College in Boston, Massachusetts. She lives with her family in Annapolis, Maryland.
