When I started learning about The Greener Parenting Movement, I became incredibly annoying. I would tell people to take off their shoes when they are coming into my house. We have to reduce the 85 percent of dirt and lead and toxins and all of this stuff in the air. People would say, "What is wrong with you? We didn't take off our shoes when we came into homes. We grew up with chemicals. We are fine." Rather than letting them leave their shoes on or, potentially, shutting the door in their faces, I had to find a way to tell them what I saw as a real problem. Help them understand where I was coming from. I would share information with them. One of the things to talk about is that, today babies are born with 200 toxic chemicals in their bodies. There are 80,000 chemicals that are registered for use in the products that we use in our homes every day. None of them have been tested for safety in children. The chemicals that are in our environments are leading to significant spikes in illnesses like asthma, allergies and ADHD. There are 1 in 88 children now, diagnosed on the Autism spectrum. Pediatric cancer that we need to talk about. These are things I used to talk to my friends and family, and share with them the reasons why I was doing the crazy things I was doing. That came as starting to blog as Mommy Greenest. That was the beginning of my story.
