When women are going through a tough postpartum period and she is looking for a therapist. She should look for a therapist who does short term therapy; whether it's cognitive behavioral therapy, interpersonal therapy, dialectical therapy, or a combination of all of them. I tend to be very eclectic in my approach in terms of what a woman needs at any given moment. It's really not appropriate at this time, to go for a therapist who uses the psychoanalytic long-term therapy. When you are going through this postpartum, you are in crisis. You need to learn how to put one foot in front of the other, in order to get yourself back. Short term therapy that can help you with a wellness strategy. A very practical approach is what you want to pick.
