My life is very different now that my son has completed cancer treatment.
I think that I probably share something that all people who have a family member go through a critical illness share. That is that I have learned to live in the moment. For some of us, that's really all we have. When you have somebody going through cancer treatment, you can't think so much about the future. What you really have to do is think about now, and enjoy the moment. I'm really focused on enjoying today with my family.
I think I've learned not to sweat the small stuff. You know, when you face a life-threatening illness, everything else just falls by the wayside. I try to take that with me everyday. Mostly, I am so grateful that my son is here. I think I approach everyday with a real, true sense of gratitude.
