I have a five-year-old and my golden nugget of parenting is be the change you want to see in your child. If you want your child to have empathy – have empathy for them. If you want your child to take responsibility – take responsibility over your own reactivity. If you want your child to be more helpful – be helpful towards your child.
You’re teaching them skills. Children live what they learn. Don’t think your child is not watching you and listening to you on a daily basis, because they are computers and they are downloading everything. So be the change you want to see in your child.
