Just because someone is a guy, doesn't make them a sexual predator. So just because you have a husband, a boyfriend, an uncle or any other male, does not mean that by virtue of being a male, you are going to automatically abuse a child. You have to look at people who want to spend time with your kid. How many people want to spend time with kids on their free time? How many people have kids come over to their house when they don't have kids themselves? Anybody who has an over interest in spending time with your kid or your kid alone, should raise a red flag. For me, as a mom, I don't want to spend time with anybody's kid unless it is going to help me or help my kid. There is no reason to spend time with kids unless you either have kids and you want to help your kids, it's your job, or you are an abuser. If someone is volunteering to hang out with your kid, you have to ask yourself: Why? They should be getting paid to do it. They should have kids themselves. If they don't, you have to wonder why they are choosing to spend time with your kid. I had a situation where I was looking for a driver to drive my step-kids to school. I would get responses that would say, "I'll do it for $2.00 an hour." Anybody who is willing to give you a huge deal or a huge break, you have to ask yourself why. To me, there are only three reasons you would want to hang out with kids. It's either your job, and you are getting paid. Two, you have kids and it's going to help your kid or your family. Three, you are a predator. If you can't figure out which category it's in, you better not have your kid hang out with them.
