It is possible to be weak in a particular subject and not have a learning disability. Signs that parents should look for are: Your child doesn't relate to the teacher or understand the teacher's style of teaching. Your child doesn't understand homework assignments or she is doing poorly on tests. If your child is doing poorly in just one subject, it's worth sitting down with the teacher and discussing what's going on. However, if this is a problem that persists and your child is having the same issues in all of his or her subjects, this might be the time for a parent to consult with an expert on a learning disability.
