If your child is invited to go to someone's home, and you know that there may be access to internet, there may be television that may not, necessarily be age-appropriate; what do you do? You feel sometimes at a loss, but you do have ways that you can handle the situation. One is you can do your due diligence. If you are able to learn a little bit about the family, figure out what might go on behind the closed door, then at least you can feel a little bit more comfortable when you drop your child off for that play date. The other side of the coin is sometimes you can only do so much. We don't want to overstep any boundaries. We certainly can't tell another parent how they should raise their children. We actually do, in some way, give up the control a little bit, when our child goes to someone's home. We hope that we have instilled in them, the tools and the wherewithal, so that if something is shown or an activity is presented to them that is age inappropriate, that they will be able to make the call and the right judgement, and say, no.
