Transcription:
If your child is resistant to treatment, it's important that you work with a substance abuse professional that can help you hold the line. It's not okay for kids to make bad decisions and you as a parent to co-sign that. If your child has a problem, you need to make sure that child makes better decisions for themselves. That's why we are parents. That's why we need to work with professionals, to get our kids to make decisions that we know are not harmful to them. When families are working with substance abuse professionals, a trained interventionist, has really changed the face of getting kids into treatment. What we've been able to do is help raise the bottom, is what we call it. In the old days, they had to hit rock bottom before they get help. Now, with people who do interventions that work with families, we can raise that bottom and intervene on somebody before they hit rock bottom, and get them the help that they need.
